" Divine Comedy Paradise"

Fiona Hall:
Rhythmical, Infinitude, Enthralling
Oil and Acrylic on Canvas
Divine comedy Paradise is a direct influence from Dante's Divine Comedy. Hall uses canvas as her base and works on layers on layers of painting. These layers are carefully composed; the initial background uses a low concentration of acrylic from a range of shades between white and black. She then used a technique of manipulating wet oil on canvas. Oil mediums do not dry quickly so artists often have that option of alternating the painting after it has been painted. However no paint brush is used in that process. Hall used her fingers to create the natural rippling effect. Working from light to dark, she then places the final layer of the rectangular shape in the centre of the canvas.
